We arrived in Chamonix yesterday evening, and the past 24 hours have gone by in a flash! I am super tired already though and feel as if I have been in a whirlwind!
So, we arrived last night at our hotel/ chalet, and it was love at first sight, as such! Our chalet has a traditional exterior yet it is modern & cosy on the inside -perfect if you ask me! 😄
Once we’d unpacked and made ourselves at home, my brother and I went for a quick swim in the pool at the hotel. Part indoor and part outdoor, the pool is perfect for any weather, and along with that there is the stunning view of Mont Blanc, the highest mountain in the Alps. I would show you a picture, but I haven’t had time to go down and take one!
Anyway, after our quick dip in the pool, we wandered into Chamonix town centre for a lovely dinner… or so I thought! We decided to go to Café Valentino, it looked quite popular and there was lots on the menu we could’ve eaten, plus someone in the UK had recommended it to us. As I’d had a burger the night before, and as I don’t like pizza (😫 I know, right?), I decided to have a chicken burger. I’ve had a few of these before and I actually quite like them so I was very pleased with my choice, for now. Before I say anymore, I would just like to say that although I wouldn’t recommend Café Valentino to anyone, it’s fine to eat there – everyone else’s pizzas were ‘yummy’ so it’s not all doom and gloom. You could have a good meal there. But just don’t choose the chicken burger!!
You’ve probably guessed it, but my chicken burger was served raw. Yep, that’s right, it was RAW. The chicken wasn’t just undercooked, a little bit pink in the middle but still ok, my chicken was raw. You know that state where the meat’s kind of a jelly consistency/ colour when you buy it from the shops, well after 2 bites, my chicken was like that! Grossssssssssss…
Fortunately, I didn’t get food poisoning from the raw chicken but still, DON’T CHOOSE THE CHICKEN BURGER!!!
Anyway, on a pleasanter note, the view of Mont Blanc and the surrounding area was BEAUTIFUL! The sky was tinged a pale reddy-orange colour, making it perfect for a photo!
Chamonix is a beautiful place, and I am in love with France and this stunning region! Sorry that this post is on late too – I’ve been on the go non-stop!
Lots of love from Chamonix,
