I’m back! Yep, that’s right, I’m back with a special Christmas themed post & Collab with Taylor from Basic Creativity. Now, if you haven’t already checked out Taylor’s blog then I recommend you do so! Her posts are always fun & creatively themed which is definitely something I love about her blog! 💚 It’s different to some of the other blogs I follow, and I always love reading her posts!
So, we decided to talk about how our Christmasses differ, as Taylor is from Australia & I am from the UK. It’s obviously very different as it is winter for me and summer (yes, Summer – how weird is that? (no offence Taylor! 😂)) for Taylor. I personally find it very hard to get around the fact that it’s not cold & dark at Christmas for her!
We came up with 12 questions (6 each) to ask each other about our Christmasses (am I inventing a word here…?). Enjoy reading my answers, & make sure you check out Taylor’s post to see what Christmas is like in Australia for her too!
- What do you think is the best thing about Christmas?
The best thing about Christmas… Ooh! Tricky question! Personally, for me, I absolutely love giving presents to my family & friends, especially when they love their gifts. Also, the build up to Christmas in the UK (with all the festive decorations & Christmas lights) is AMAZING! 💗
- Do you have a stocking?
Nope. My family have never been keen on stockings, but in the UK I’m pretty certain that everyone else gets them! Don’t they usually have an orange & chocolate in them…?
- What food do you most commonly eat on Christmas Eve?
In my household, we always have gammon on Christmas Eve, although I don’t think that’s a tradition for the UK. I love going to sleep with the smell of the cooked gammon wafting up the stairs, it definitely gets me in the Christmassy mood! 🎄
- What do you do on Christmas Day?
Normally, we just open presents, eat A LOT, laugh, play games & have fun! It’s all about spending time with your family.
- Do you say Father Christmas or Santa?
FATHER CHRISTMAS all the way!!!! Santa is soooo American (sorry to all Americans out there!). Yep. Definitely Father Christmas. 🎅
- What food do you most commonly eat on Christmas Day?
Ooh, definitely a big roast dinner, with pigs in blankets (sausages wrapped in bacon) and Yorkshire puddings (with veg & roast potatoes of course!). Thankfully, I’m not forced to eat brussel sprouts though…
- What is the weather like for Christmas for you?
Well, for us, it’s winter at the moment so normally it’s cold, windy & sometimes wet… However, it sometimes SNOWS!! It is the best when that happens, although last Christmas it snowed late at night, so we woke up with a dusting of snow the next day! ❄️
- When do you give and receive your Christmas presents?
First thing in the morning – my brother and I can’t wait! 😂 We normally have an interval of breakfast in the middle though…
- Is Christmas a big thing in your family or not?
Yes! I’d say so, it’s definitely the time of the year I look forward to most! I love the atmosphere it brings and the sense of family, so yes, it is a big thing!
- What is your favourite Christmas movie?
Well… I don’t think I’ve watched many Christmas movies actually, but I remember going to the cinema years ago to watch a film called ‘Arthur Christmas’, so maybe that? 🤔
- How does your family decorate for Christmas?
We have a Christmas tree (of course!), some small decorations dotted around our house & a few outdoor Christmas lights too. I’d say we don’t go ‘big’ on Christmas decorations unlike some households in the UK!
- What is your favourite thing to do for Christmas?
I love a bit of festive Christmas shopping & decorating the Christmas tree is always a lot of fun, but my favourite thing to do for Christmas? Probably, it’s putting presents under the Christmas tree with the log burner on in the corner. I have a very cosy, festive & family orientated perspective of Christmas I think!
I hope you loved reading about my Christmas & Taylor’s too! 🎄
My questions for you are: what are your Christmas traditions? Who do you celebrate Christmas with? Father Christmas or Santa? (Father Christmas ALL THE WAY!😂) What is the best part of your Christmas?
