Dear Readers,

I’m back! Yep, that’s right, I’m back with a special Christmas themed post & Collab with Taylor from Basic Creativity. Now, if you haven’t already checked out Taylor’s blog then I recommend you do so! Her posts are always fun & creatively themed which is definitely something I love about her blog! 💚 It’s different to some of the other blogs I follow, and I always love reading her posts!

So, we decided to talk about how our Christmasses differ, as Taylor is from Australia & I am from the UK. It’s obviously very different as it is winter for me and summer (yes, Summer – how weird is that? (no offence Taylor! 😂)) for Taylor. I personally find it very hard to get around the fact that it’s not cold & dark at Christmas for her!

We came up with 12 questions (6 each) to ask each other about our Christmasses (am I inventing a word here…?). Enjoy reading my answers, & make sure you check out Taylor’s post to see what Christmas is like in Australia for her too!

  • What do you think is the best thing about Christmas?

The best thing about Christmas… Ooh! Tricky question! Personally, for me, I absolutely love giving presents to my family & friends, especially when they love their gifts. Also, the build up to Christmas in the UK (with all the festive decorations & Christmas lights) is AMAZING! 💗

  • Do you have a stocking?

Nope. My family have never been keen on stockings, but in the UK I’m pretty certain that everyone else gets them! Don’t they usually have an orange & chocolate in them…?

  • What food do you most commonly eat on Christmas Eve?

In my household, we always have gammon on Christmas Eve, although I don’t think that’s a tradition for the UK. I love going to sleep with the smell of the cooked gammon wafting up the stairs, it definitely gets me in the Christmassy mood! 🎄

  • What do you do on Christmas Day?

Normally, we just open presents, eat A LOT, laugh, play games & have fun! It’s all about spending time with your family.

  • Do you say Father Christmas or Santa?

FATHER CHRISTMAS all the way!!!! Santa is soooo American (sorry to all Americans out there!). Yep. Definitely Father Christmas. 🎅

  • What food do you most commonly eat on Christmas Day?

Ooh, definitely a big roast dinner, with pigs in blankets (sausages wrapped in bacon) and Yorkshire puddings (with veg & roast potatoes of course!). Thankfully, I’m not forced to eat brussel sprouts though…

  • What is the weather like for Christmas for you?

Well, for us, it’s winter at the moment so normally it’s cold, windy & sometimes wet… However, it sometimes SNOWS!! It is the best when that happens, although last Christmas it snowed late at night, so we woke up with a dusting of snow the next day! ❄️

  • When do you give and receive your Christmas presents?

First thing in the morning – my brother and I can’t wait! 😂 We normally have an interval of breakfast in the middle though…

  • Is Christmas a big thing in your family or not?

Yes! I’d say so, it’s definitely the time of the year I look forward to most! I love the atmosphere it brings and the sense of family, so yes, it is a big thing!

  • What is your favourite Christmas movie?

Well… I don’t think I’ve watched many Christmas movies actually, but I remember going to the cinema years ago to watch a film called ‘Arthur Christmas’, so maybe that? 🤔

  • How does your family decorate for Christmas?

We have a Christmas tree (of course!), some small decorations dotted around our house & a few outdoor Christmas lights too. I’d say we don’t go ‘big’ on Christmas decorations unlike some households in the UK!

  • What is your favourite thing to do for Christmas?

I love a bit of festive Christmas shopping & decorating the Christmas tree is always a lot of fun, but my favourite thing to do for Christmas? Probably, it’s putting presents under the Christmas tree with the log burner on in the corner. I have a very cosy, festive & family orientated perspective of Christmas I think!

I hope you loved reading about my Christmas & Taylor’s too! 🎄

My questions for you are: what are your Christmas traditions? Who do you celebrate Christmas with? Father Christmas or Santa? (Father Christmas ALL THE WAY!😂) What is the best part of your Christmas?

  1. Hi Autumn! 😊 Great collab! 💛 I need to go check out her blog 😁 Brussel sprouts are the worst! 😂 Christmas is a big thing in my family too, I love giving presents and I love gammon, though in England you can’t really have gammon for Christmas Dinner 😂 So that kinda sucks 😫 Awesome post! 😊

    1. 😂 Thanks for the sweet comment Amber! I know – gammon is the best (& I’m very glad you have the sense to not like brussel sprouts too! 😂)!! Yes, you really can’t have anything other than turkey here… Having said that, I think this year we’re eating beef! 😂 it’ll be a bit weird for sure! Autumn x (Ps: I’m now on school holidays so we should definitely start working on our collab again!! 💚)

      1. Yass! Gammon all the way! 😊💛 Yep, my mum is always persuading me to eat Brussels sprouts and I’m like ‘Why waste the short time you’re given on this earth eating disgusting Brussels sprouts?’ She just rolls her eyes 😂 and says that I’m a moralist, which I think I am. I love astrology (hence my Horoscope reading and Philosophy) both very interesting subjects. Ooo, I love beef! That’s a change! 😊💛
Yeah, that’s going to be different but maybe a good change from the same old, spice it up a bit (did I actually just say ‘spice it up’?! 😂) Oh my god yes! School has finished for me *happy dance* so I have lots more time on my hands! Definitely get back to working on it! 😊😁

      2. Your brussel sprouts comment made me laugh, VERY TRUE!! 😂 Ooh, yeah that makes sense! 🌟 Astrology is cool (& I bet really interesting!), but I don’t know that much about it! 😂 Yep, beef is gonna spice it up a bit! (Yes, I actually wrote that too 😂) And let’s have a PARTY for holidays! I’m so happy, but urgh… we have school again so soon in January… 😢 (At least we get an education though – I’m thinking of the positives here!! 🎉✨) And sounds great (about our collab! 😊) Autumn x

    1. 😂 Noooo! Not Team Santa! 😂 Haha! Wow – 45 degrees is TOO hot (no offence!)!! 🥵 But I bet Christmas is really nice in Summer, you could even go to the beach or go for a swim! (I’m slightly jealous, I will admit it!!) ☀️ *sighs* I think one year I’m going to have to go to Australia for Christmas! 😂 Autumn x

  2. Great collab, girls! 😍💚🎄 It was interesting learning about how you celebrate Christmas, Autumn! It honestly sounds cooler than American Christmases 😂 We (well, most of us) are soooo materialistic. It really should be about family and having fun!
