Dear Readers,

How are you?! I hope you are all good, and I hope you had a very Merry Christmas! Gosh, it went by so quickly, didn’t it? Now it is only a matter of hours before the New Year – how exciting is that? 🎉

It’s that time of year where we all reflect on the past year, and look towards making our next year even better than before. We tend to set ourselves new goals/ targets/ resolutions for moving on and improving ourselves next year. But this isn’t going to be a post dedicated to my New Years Resolutions, I decided to think about how we celebrate or welcome the New Year in. In lots of countries, it’s very common to have a big firework display when the clock strikes 00:00 🕛, and that’s what happens here in the UK. I love watching the firework displays from the TV in our house (or wherever we are for New Year), and so I wrote a short poem describing what goes through my head when the clock strikes at midnight! ✨

Enjoy!

Fireworks: (poem)

A single burst of colour lights up the sky,
I see it, just, from the corner of my eye.
Turn your head,
Open your eyes,
And you will be amazed of the beauty of a thousand
nights.
A flash; a glimpse of what’s been done,
What I’ve accomplished,
Where I’ve been lead
By the intrigue filling up my head:
It’s all coming to an end
Tonight.
When the clock of Big Ben strikes
At midnight
Tonight.
When a million glowing colours splatter the sky,
Like a painting viewed by the eye
Tonight.
We’ll enter the unknown,
Be surprised, taken aback,
Yet it’ll all work itself out
Amongst the dead of night.
Who knows what’ll come:
Which path I’ll end up choosing,
But I live with the
big
belief that it’ll be fine,
In the end.
Sounds of paintballs taking off
And whooshing towards the stars,
Or perhaps even to Mars.
They splash themselves onto the canvas that is before us,
Lighting up the sky
Before my eyes
Igniting the hope, the fear,
Of the next New Year.
                                                (softly)
Igniting the hope, the fear,
Of the next New Year.

Well, I hope you enjoyed reading that little poem, it certainly was lovely to write! 💙

If you are watching a firework display tonight, then I hope you have a lovely time, and a Happy New Year to all my readers; I hope you have an amazing year hopefully filled with lots of blogging!

    1. Hey Amber! 🌟 Thank you SO MUCH, your comments are the sweetest & mean so much to me! 💖 I’m really happy you liked the poem, maybe I’ll make poems a monthly thing on my blog (thanks for the idea! ✨)! Yessss, that metaphor was definitely one of my better ones – I actually love it too, especially as fireworks to me are like paint splattering a canvas (the sky)! ❤️ Thank you so much! (How many followers do you have now? 50? – you must be close, your blog’s great! 🥳) I think my blogging goal is to blog more regularly or less randomly, but we’ll see if that happens… 😂! Thank you Amber for the lovely comment! Happy New Year too! 💚 Autumn x (PS: Yes we certainly must get back to working on it! We kinda did – oops! 😂)
