Dear Readers,

Okay! So here we are: first ever Let’s Chat post! ๐Ÿ’™ No pressure for me then… I hope you all enjoy reading this, as it is from a post idea I have been waiting to write since last year; now feels like the right time to go through with it! Anyway, I hope you are excited, because I certainly am!

*drum roll please*

Here goes nothing…

Today’s post is all about boosting others egos.

Yes, that’s right, the first Let’s Chat post is going to be based around the topic of boosting others self-esteem, and why I believe that as humans we should be complimenting each other a whole lot more than we do at the moment. โœจ

How hard is it to compliment someone else? To tell them their hair looks nice, or tell them that they’re rocking their outfit today, or to even ask where they got their t-shirt from?

I know this is very cringeworthy, but it gets the point across well ๐Ÿ˜‚

It seriously is easier than answering any question in an exam or test. And it costs you NOTHING AT ALL. All you have to say is ‘Your hair looks cute today’, or ‘I’m loving that dress, where is it from?’, and that’s it. I can guarantee you’ll make your family member or friend (although it doesn’t even have to be one of your friends) feel on top of the world, especially if they were worrying about what they look like that particular day. And, also, you’ll feel pretty good too – there’s nothing lovelier than making someone else’s face light up with happiness, is there? ๐ŸŽ‰

We’ve all been there before, haven’t we? We’ve all been testing out a new hairstyle or outfit, and then someone says that they like it, and it’s like WHAT???!!! You feel so happy, so relieved, and so confident that you then want to wear that particular combination 24/7, purely as others think you look nice? I know – it’s sad that we rely on others opinions so much, and that’s why we can be so vulnerable as beings sometimes.

Humans rely on acceptance from others.

I can’t believe I just wrote that. It’s crazy, I mean I don’t necessarily want to rely on others for liking or disliking a certain style, but deep down, I think we all know it’s true. We all know we shouldn’t need others to tell us we look nice to feel beautiful. We all know we shouldn’t ‘backstab’ others behind their backs. We all know that it’s much easier to be ourselves than to pretend to be someone else. But there’s something missing: we know we shouldn’t do these things, although sometimes we seem to be falling into a loophole of breaking these promises/ things we know we shouldn’t do.

Wherever I go, there always seems to be someone being unkind to another. Always seems to be someone willing to be nasty about someone behind their back, for the sake of ‘fitting in’ with a certain crowd. And there is almost never anyone being kind to someone else, and meaning it.

Where has all the kindness gone in our world?

We shape the world we live in, we choose our own environment to thrive, we choose the place we want to fit in. Yes, we choose the place we live in, but we also shape the environment we live in as well.

Next time you see anyone, choose kindness, choose compliments, and choose to be genuine. Choose to be who you want to be. Don't follow others to fit in. Be true to yourself, and everything else will follow.

To help motivate me, I am attempting to give a least ‘a compliment a day’.

We all can drift away from our beliefs sometimes, sometimes we get caught up in the moment and do something we regret. Luckily, this is all part of being ‘human’, but for me, I want to focus on giving positivity to others. I don’t want to cause them anything other than happiness. It will be a struggle, I’m certainly far from perfect, but it is my imperfections that make me who I am.

A compliment a day is designed to help this. To help me continually improve someone’s mood, or even to make their day. ๐Ÿ’œ The compliment’s that I am going to giving have to be genuine. If they aren’t, then there’s no point giving them: I simply have to mean what I say.

Simple, right? Wrong!

As I’ve said before, it won’t necessarily be easy to stick to, but it’ll hopefully boost the self-esteem of those around me, as well as make me feel good & kind too.

Care to join me?

Of course, I am encouraging you to take part in ‘A compliment a Day’ as well as me, obviously there’s no pressure for this to happen, but it could be a great change for you & the direction your life is going!

I’ll leave you with a quote:

Wow – first ever ‘Let’s Chat’ post = complete! Not gonna lie, I’m impressed with myself, and I really do hope you enjoyed this post, and that you enjoy many more ‘Let’s Chat’ posts to come! ๐Ÿ˜Š.

  1. This week I’ve had one random stranger tell me I’m pretty and I’ve had a bunch of my friends saying positive things about me and when I say this I’m not exaggerating, one simple compliment can brighten a whole day, someone might be having the toughest day ever, and just one complement can soften the blow, always be a little kinder than necessary, that’s my motto. Amazing post Autumn, as always ๐Ÿ’› x

  2. I love this first Letโ€™s Chat post! ๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿ’› Itโ€™s amazing! ๐Ÿ˜Š Itโ€™s really good that youโ€™ve put the message out there, because for a lot of people what youโ€™ve said might be a little short to them, but gurl, you speak wisdom! โœจ Iโ€™m loving this Letโ€™s Chat, itโ€™s a great way to spark discussion and to share thoughts/views, Iโ€™m definitely going to be looking forward to future posts! I will definitely be complimenting you on a compliment a day, whether itโ€™s through blogging or in real life! That quote is amazing, itโ€™s going to feature in my bullet journal quote pages (Iโ€™m a quote addict) ๐Ÿ˜‚
Another quote that stands out to me is โ€˜Youโ€™ll find happiness when you stop comparing yourself to other people.โ€™ Because we do rely on peopleโ€™s judgement, if they donโ€™t like it, then we donโ€™t like it, depending on how strong your personality is. This post is amazing! Is it okay if I link it in my next post? Itโ€™s amazing ๐Ÿ˜Š

      1. Aw, Iโ€™m glad! It was all true and genuine โœจ Iโ€™m considering creating something like Letโ€™s Chat but obviously a different concept but Iโ€™m finding it a bit daunting and nerve-wracking, and the thought that it might not take off worries me.

  3. Well, firstly, I love this idea! ๐Ÿ’™ Thank you Autumn for doing this series. I think genuine compliments really can make people’s day, however, I believe we should also learn to be happy with who we are without needing the approval of others. Giving a compliment and seeing people’s reaction is also an amazing feeling ๐Ÿ™‚

It’s all about the desire to brighten up someone else’s day and share some positivity and light with others. I know that you remember the compliments you recieve for the rest of your life!

  4. Oh wow! Autumn, I was similing the whole time I was reading this *still smiling*…(now my cheek bones are hurting lol!)
This post made me think that it’s so easy to make someone’s day, isn’t it? Everyone wants to be appreciated and if they get it from us, nothing’s greater than that! Spreading positivity and smiles must me the motto of our livesโ™ฅ it makes others as well as us happy!
A compliment for you- You are an amazing writer! (I swear I mean it!) And this post “especially” strung the deepest strings of my heart!
Best compliment someone ever gave to me_ Once someone said that I have a beautiful voice and they have become a fan of my singing! It made not only my day but my whole week!โ™ฅโ™ฅโ™ฅ
And it would be my pleasure to join you in “the compliment day”

    1. Exactly Penny! It is – it is so, SO simple to brighten someone else’s day just by saying something nice to them! ๐Ÿ’ž
Thank you so much for saying I’m ‘an amazing writer’ – that means the WORLD; I absolutely love to write and express my thoughts & beliefs. ๐Ÿ’šโœจ I’m so pleased you think I’m good at it! (And the compliment comes right back at you Penny – I absolutely adore your writing style/ voice too! ๐Ÿ˜Š)
And also, that is a lovely compliment for someone to give to you, I’m sure you do have a beautiful voice! With things such as singing voices, I think that once one person genuinely says you have a lovely voice, it can be such a confidence boost & help you feel more confident about singing, and more often than not, you get even better at it! ๐ŸŽ‰
Anyway, thank you very much for all your kind words Penny, and I’m glad I made you smile! Autumn x

  6. Autumn, this post was SO real. I never really thought about how much our verbal thoughts affect others, but looking back, whenever someone comments on something I wear or one of my actions, my day instantly lights up! While compliments to people are just that amazing, I also think that we need to learn to thrive on our OWN self-confidence; you’re not just your worst critic, but you’re your best friend. I’ll definitely take on this challenge ๐Ÿ™‚

  8. Love this! I totally agree when you say that we rely on acceptance from others. Itโ€™s so true! And here we are trying to fight that tendency when really we should be contributing to making people feel good about themselves. Itโ€™s an ego boost and we all need it every once in a while ๐Ÿ˜‰

    1. Yessss! Thank you; what you’ve said there hits the nail on the head! โœจ I think that giving out more compliments can definitely help people feel good about themselves, and that we all need a confidence boost once in a while! ๐Ÿ’žSometimes, instead of solely fighting the tendency to not rely on acceptance from others, we should look at helping others feel good about themselves! ๐ŸŒŸ Thank you for the lovely comment, Autumn x
